A Nod to How it All Started
When we dreamed up Rushland, we were not just imagining a place for people to burn energy. We were imagining a place where every family — every story, every need, every child — could walk through the doors and feel instantly welcome.
For us, inclusion isn’t a marketing line. It’s the foundation we built this entire space on.
What Inclusion Means to Rushland
Inclusion means designing intentionally, not accidentally. It means creating different types of play zones so people with different sensory needs can explore at their own pace. It means offering a quiet space for families who need a break from noise and stimulation. It means choosing equipment, layouts, and experiences that reflect the real diversity of the families in our community.
It also means removing barriers — financial, physical, emotional — wherever we can. Families shouldn’t have to travel out of the county to find a space that understands them. They shouldn’t have to wonder if their family member will “fit in.” At Rushland, they already do.
Most of all, inclusion means belonging. Belonging is the feeling that you don’t have to change who you are to participate. It’s the feeling that your child is celebrated, not accommodated. It’s the feeling that this space was made with you in mind — because it was.
All are welcome. All are seen. All belong.
As we open our doors and begin sharing more of our journey, we want this to be the heartbeat of everything we do: All are welcome. All are seen. All belong.
This is what inclusion means to us at Rushland. And this is just the beginning.
